Haskins, a name synonymous with Shepton Mallet, has occupied its present 100,000 sq ft site for 40 years. It was all started in 1938 by Jack Haskins,a cabinet maker, from a one-up, one-down cottage in nearby Town Street.
Eventually, Haskins spread to 7 adjoining cottages comprising 61 separate rooms - all crammed with furniture. In 1969 the company needing yet more space, moved to its present High Street site and, for a time, was the UK¹s largest furniture store.
The store underwent a major refurbishment through 2008 and the furniture offering is amongst the highest standard you will find anywhere in the country.
Our 3,000 sq ft Ercol gallery is the largest display of Ercol in the United Kingdom and a fantastic new Old Charm gallery is opening in August 2009. There are also great displays of Ekornes Stressless, G-Plan Upholstery, Tempur, Silentnight, Willis & Gambier and Morris Furniture.
