We also supply the timeless ercol originals collection - pieces designed by ercol's founder, Lucian Ercolani, during the 1940s and '50s; and the retro-style Love Seat and Studio Couch.

Ercol quality

From their factory of 160,000 square feet in the Chiltern Hills of England, ercol source their extensive choice of high quality fabrics, leathers and wood. They work with solid wood, elm, beech, ash and oak - hardwoods that are mainly from temperate regions of North America and Europe, where the forests are highly sustainable.

The Ercol legacy

Ercol is family owned and Edward Tadros, ercol's chairman, is the third generation of his family to be the guardian of ercol.

Lucian Randolph Ercolani (1888-1976), a young designer, founded ercol in 1920 at premises in High Wycombe, the historic furniture-making town in Buckinghamshire.

In 1944, ercol was awarded a contract from the British Government to produce 100,000 Windsor chairs, with a bentwood elm frame and arched back, and Lucian perfected the technique of steam-bending elm (a difficult hardwood to work with, because it distorted) in large quantities, forming the famous Windsor Bow.

From those pioneering days to the present, ercol have continued to develop their ideas, ensuring that collectors are always supplied with pieces of furniture that will be highly valued.
