Round Tables
Are round tables better than rectangular?
Neither is objectively better; they suit different rooms, different households, and different ways of using the space. Round tables have a particular social advantage in that everyone sits at an equal distance from everyone else, which makes conversation feel more natural and inclusive, and there is no awkward corner seat to negotiate. They also tend to feel less imposing in a smaller room. Our round dining tables work especially well in square rooms or open-plan spaces where the softer shape helps to break up the angularity of the rest of the layout, and they pair beautifully with upholstered or curved-back dining chairs for a cohesive overall look.
Do round dining tables save space?
In the right room, yes. Because round tables have no corners, they can feel less bulky than a rectangular table of equivalent seating capacity, and they tend to allow slightly better flow around the edges of the room since there are no sharp protrusions to navigate. A four-seater round table can also work in a room where a rectangular equivalent would feel cramped or awkward. That said, round tables do have a practical ceiling in terms of how many people they can seat before the diameter becomes unwieldy, so if you regularly need to seat six or more, it is worth comparing dimensions carefully across our round dining tables range before committing.
