What is a grand sofa?
A grand sofa is an extra-large version of a standard 3 seater, designed with deeper seats, wider proportions, and often taller backs for maximum comfort. It's built to accommodate three or four people very comfortably, with plenty of room to spread out. Grand sofas typically feature more generous cushioning and sometimes have higher arms or additional lumbar support. They're perfect if you have the space and want a sofa that's truly comfortable for relaxing, rather than just perching. The larger scale also makes them a strong visual anchor in bigger living rooms or open-plan spaces where a standard 3 seater might look lost.
How long is a grand sofa?
Grand sofas typically measure between 220cm and 260cm in length, making them around 20-40cm longer than a standard 3 seater. The depth is often more generous too, ranging from 95cm to 110cm or more, which gives you that really sink-in comfort. These larger dimensions mean you'll need a good-sized room, ideally at least 4 metres wide, to avoid the space feeling overcrowded. Before purchasing, measure your room carefully and consider the proportions: a grand sofa needs space to breathe.
